IDF2022-1049 Diabetes and associated factors among urban women in Burkina Faso

Diabetes mellitus is a public health problem that seriously affects the lives of women. It increases, for instance, risk heart disease by fourfold in women and twofold men. growing developing countries including Burkina Faso. Our objective was to determine proportion undiagnosed type 2 diabetes (T2DM) among adult identify their factors. This cross-sectional study female volunteers over age 18 years, recruited from 4 screening sites targeting occupational profiles whose lifestyle would be factors influencing occurence (university, market, police school nursing school). Data were collected November 11 16, 2019, an urban setting: capital city Faso: Ouagadougou. We performed logistic regression associated with dysglycemia. 356 participated at collection sites. Of these women, 36 (10.1% 95% CI [7.3–13.7]) classified as pre-diabetic diabetic blood glucose > = 6.1 mmol/L. The mean 28 ± 9.36 extremes ranging 71 years. Dysglycemia represented 46% 45 55 16% abdominal obesity, 19% 28% freelance In multivariate analysis obesity (aOR 2.59; [1.08–6.20]), being screened site market i.e. (trade business, entrepreneurship) 10.77; [1.33–86.92] significantly increased dysglycemia Most Faso have activity related trade business or entrepreneurship. Further studies this socio professional could help improve performance promotion, prevention control programs
